John Karlsrud is a Research Professor at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and has a PhD from the University of Warwick.
John Karlsrud is a Research Professor at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs and has a PhD from the University of Warwick. He has been working on a range of issues related to peacekeeping, including the use of force, intelligence, protection of civilians, gender, and burden-sharing with regional organizations. He has served as Special Assistant to the United Nations Special Representative in Chad, has worked in Bosnia, Chad, Palestine, Norway and the USA, and has conducted field research and brief missions to Haiti, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Serbia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Ukraine. His latest books are The UN at War (Palgrave, 2018) and Multinational Rapid Response Mechanisms (Routledge, 2019, co-edited with Yf Reykers).
