My research covers both Parkinson's disease and dystonia. The SCOPA-PROPARK study (www.SCOPA-PROPARK.eu) is a prospective cohort study on patients with Parkinson's disease. The study focuses on phenotyping, subtype identification, phenotype-genotype relations, progression modeling, and relations between impairments, disability and quality of life.
As a partner of the knowledge consortium Trauma RElated Neuronal Dysfunction (www.trendconsortium.nl), we use Complex Regional Pain Syndrome as a model to develop concepts on mechanisms of disease that underlie movement disorders like dystonia that occur in response to tissue injury, their assessment and treatment.
