Joël Lozeman graduated with bachelor's degrees in Law and Social Psychology and a master's degree in Private Law from Utrecht University. He subsequently worked as a lawyer for slightly more than three years. He was mainly involved in national and international financing transactions and insolvency and restructuring matters, including some of the largest cases to date under the Dutch Act on Confirmation of Extrajudicial Restructuring Plans (Wet homologatie onderhands akkoord, WHOA). In October 2023, Joël started as a PhD candidate at Leiden Law School's Department of Company Law. By combining legal-doctrinal and empirical methods, he investigates option instruments as a possible solution for valuation fights under the WHOA.
