Jinhui started as a PhD researcher at the Industrial Ecology Department of CML in September 2019.
Professional experience
Jinhui ZHOU received her BSc degree in Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering in 2014 and her MSc degree in Hydrology and Water Resources in 2016 at the Sun Yat-sen University. During MSc Jinhui published 2 SCI papers related to urban flood risk warning model and assessing the long-term impact of urbanization on run-off using a remote-sensing-supported hydrological model respectively, and finished graduation thesis on the topic of Analysis of Extreme Rainfall and Flood Response under Climate Change in Liujiang River Basin.
Over the past 3 years, Jinhui worked as an environmental engineer and researcher in China. Her job is mainly about developing and applying hydrology and water quality models to explore local environmental and ecological issues in 3 river/lake basins and an urban area, with the aim of providing plan to mitigate the environmental impact on local watersheds.
Research topic
Jinhui’s research is focused on assessing the environmental impacts of future nitrogen dispersal across global watersheds. Due to extensive farming method, the large amount of nutrients losses after fertilization have a great impact on local watersheds and coastal zones. The aim of Jinhui’s project is to evaluate the influence of nitrogen losses on global water quality under different shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs) up to the year 2050 by using nutrient model IMAGE-GNM.
