Jianhua is an economic geographer and is passionate about applying theories and methods from economics and geography to address sustainability transition-related topics.

Professional experience

Jianhua pursued his PhD at the University of Groningen. His dissertation, titled “Place, Space, and Sustainability transitions”, investigates the influence of place-specific and network factors on shaping sustainability transition processes across different geographical contexts. Prior to his PhD, he studied MSc Urban Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and BE Architecture and Urban Planning in China. He also has serval years of industry working experience in Amsterdam, Macau, and China.

 

Research topic

His research focuses on the spatial dimension of sustainability transitions and green innovation diffusion, primarily employing (spatial) econometrics and network analysis techniques. Currently, as a postdoctoral researcher in the Horizon project RESOURCE at CML, he focuses on examining the environmental and socio-economic impacts of the up-taking of circular economy practices in the Aragon region.
