Jarle Brinchmann has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Astronomy from the University of Oslo. He obtained his PhD at the University of Cambridge with his thesis "The physical evolution of galaxies". After that, he held positions as a PostDoc at Oxford University, the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics and the Center for Astrophysics of the University of Porto. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor at the Leiden Observatory.
