Short CV
Iris obtained her research master’s degree in Developmental Psychology and her master’s degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology at Leiden University in 2018 (cum laude). As a research intern in the Developmental Social Neuroscience Lab at the University of Oregon, she worked on a longitudinal fMRI study about the social influences on risky decision-making in adolescents involved in foster care. During her thesis in the Brain and Development Research Center (BDRC), she focused on the neural and behavioral correlates of self-conflict across adolescence. In addition, Iris did a clinical internship focusing on psycho-diagnostics in children at an educational advising center (Haags Centrum voor Onderwijsadvies), where she obtained her Basisaantekening Psychodiagnostiek (BAPD). Iris also worked on various fMRI studies as a student assistant/research assistant in the BDRC for almost 2 years.
Current research
In January 2019 Iris started with her PhD project in the BDRC under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Berna Güroğlu and Dr. Anna van Duijvenvoorde. The focus her PhD project will be on the underlying behavioral and neural mechanisms of social learning and feedback processing in the social context of adolescents’ peer relationships, such as friendship. In addition, Iris will examine the neural correlates of the role of friendship in reward processing in adolescents with an attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
