Ilse Ras is an Assistant Professor of Criminology at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology.
Ilse Ras is an Assistant Professor of Criminology at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology. Her research focuses on representations of human trafficking and exploitation in media, corporate communication and political debate.
After finishing her MSc in Criminology at the University of Leicester, Ilse completed her PhD at the University of Leeds, where she examined media reporting on corporate fraud. Afterwards, she taught both Criminology and (critical) Stylistics at various British Universities, and researched media representations and corporate communication on human trafficking.
Ilse coordinates and teaches the Security Policy-module (MSc Criminology and Security Policy) and teaches the modules Evaluating Criminal Policy (MSc Criminology and Security Policy), and Research Skills – Qualitative (Third Year BSc Criminology).
