Hongyi is interested in dietary patterns and their associations with human health, environmental sustainability, and economic affordability. His research integrates models from public health, environmental science, and economics to explore the association between food system transformation and dietary health, environmental impact, and affordability at both global and national levels.

Professional Experience

Hongyi completed his PhD at Human Nutrition and Health department, Wageningen University (2020-2024), focusing on the associations between dietary patterns and health outcomes, environmental impact, and dietary costs during dietary transitions in low- and middle-income countries. He also collaborated with various NGOs, including the International Food Policy Research Institute, the Food and Agriculture Organization, and the World Bank, working to enhance the sustainability of food system transformations in low- and middle-income countries.

Research Topic

Hongyi's current research aims to integrate a food system model with microdata on consumer diets, farmer practices, and food company activities to more accurately attribute the socio-environmental impacts of food systems to individual food system actors.
