Research

I am a geologist looking at fluvial and coastal systems and with a special interest for vertebrate fossils. My current research focusses on the Pleistocene of eastern Java. What does the geology tell us about the emergence of Java and its landscape development under influence of volcanism, tectonism, sea-level fluctuations and climate change? How did this affect the ecosystem? The enduring presence of Homo erectus in eastern Java makes these questions of special relevance.
