Gulnara Abbas is a PhD Researcher in Development Cooperation at the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, Leiden University. Her research explores changes and continuities in development cooperation discourse and practice of international development organizations. Specifically, she is interested in the relationship towards developing countries within the emerging development partnership paradigm.

Gulnara Abbas is a PhD Researcher at the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, Leiden University. Her research explores changes and continuities in development cooperation discourse and practice of international development organizations. Specifically, she is interested in the relationship towards developing countries within the emerging development partnership paradigm. Her PhD is supervised by Prof. Dr Madeleine Hosli and Dr. Anar Ahmadov.
Gulnara holds a MSc (cum laude) in Emerging Economies and Inclusive Development from King’s College London. Previously, Gulnara worked as a Researcher/Economist at the Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD), where she participated in several projects organized by UNDP, ADB, EU and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. She also interned at the International Criminal Court in the Hague, supporting external relations and state cooperation activities of the Court.
