Gert Jan Boeve joined the Institute of Private Law as an external PhD student on 1 August 2017. His dissertation is titled: The general law of suspension (Het algemene opschortingsrecht). Gert Jan studied law at Utrecht University (LLB (Hons. Utrecht Law College) and LLM (Hons. Excellent Mastertracé). He worked as a lawyer in Utrecht from mid-2014 to 2021. Since 2022, he works as an employee of the Supreme Court's academic bureau in the civil sector. Since 2023, he also holds an appointment as dep. chairman of the Board of Appeal for Examinations and of the Arbitration Committee of The Hague University of Applied Sciences and, with effect from 2024, he has been appointed chairman of the Appeals Committee for the Elections Participation Councils of that university.
