Dr Georg Wabl LL.M. (London) has been a guest lecturer at the Department of Company Law, Leiden Law School since December 2021. He is an lawyer and Partner at Binder Grösswang in Vienna, focusing on international restructuring & insolvency law. In 2021, he was seconded to De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam. Georg did his PhD at the University of Vienna, where he conducted research into European insolvency law. He focused on the duties of directors under Directive (EU) 2019/1023. He regularly publishes articles in Austrian and international journals and is a frequent speaker.

Education
Georg did his PhD at University of Vienna, where he conducted research into European insolvency law, focusing on the duties of directors under Directive (EU) 2019/1023 (doctor iuris, graduated in 2022). His supervisor was Professor Andreas Konecny. As part of his PhD thesis, Georg performed an empirical survey involving over 100 Austrian insolvency administrators. In 2016 and 2017, he did an LL.M. at Queen Mary University of London, where he also worked as a Research Assistant in restructuring and insolvency law for Professor Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal. Georg completed his master’s degree (magister iuris) at the University of Graz in 2011.
