Research
My research focuses on theoretical and descriptive issues in morphology, with special attention to the interfaces with phonology, syntax, and semantics. I am interested in the notion ‘construction’ as developed in Construction Grammar, and its importance for dealing with morphological phenomena and syntactic constructions that serve to create lexical units. The languages that I study are mainly the Germanic and Romance languages, with special attention to Dutch. I make use of the insights of grammaticalisation theory, both for synchronic and diachronic morphological studies.
