Florbella Rodrigues Baptista works as a student assistant for Prof.dr. Maartje van der Woude at the Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI), where she assists with research preparation for prof. van der Woude's book on Crimmigration in the Schengen Area: Tales from European Borderlands (working title). In addition, Florbella also works as a student assistant for the VVI, for which she assists senior staff and support the secretariat. 

Florbella is also the assistant course coordinator at the Humanities Faculty for the BA International studies courses: Cultural Studies and Principles of Economics.

Furthermore, in 2021 Florbella worked on a collaborative interdisciplinary research project with six universities worldwide, called 'Night Spaces: Migration, Culture, and Integration in Europe (NITE)', which considers the main question: How are night spaces imagined, produced, experienced, and narrated by migrant communities in Europe? Florbella’s division focused specifically on Cape Verdean migrant communities in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
