Esther Habers obtained her Research Master’s degree in Fundamental and Clinical Human Movement Sciences at the VU University in Amsterdam (2011). Thereafter, she performed her PhD research at the Child Development and Exercise Center of the University Medical Center in Utrecht. Her dissertation entitles: “Exercise in action for juvenile dermatomyositis – steps towards understanding” (2015).
From 2014 until 2022 she worked as post-doctoral researcher and assistant professor at the Health, Medical and Neuropsychology Unit of the Institute of Psychology of Leiden University where she studied the effects of bright light therapy in rheumatoid arthritis to improve symptoms of fatigue and other disease outcomes in a randomized controlled trial. Furthermore, she taught various bachelor and master courses, supervised thesis projects, and participated in the Master Evaluation Commission of the Master’s Programme Committee (MOC) of the Institute of Psychology.
Since 2020 she is working as the coordinator of the Honours College of the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
