More information about Emmy Koning
Her research is about the study of negotiated political settlements, their involved power-sharing institutions and incorporated post-conflict justice elements. This understanding supports conflicting parties: armed insurgency movements and ethnic minorities to particular regions and third party mediators, with knowledge of the proposed and unplanned effect that power-sharing settlements have, or might have, on the viability and sustainability of (post-conflict) justice measures in the short- and long-term, and vice versa. Moreover, by studying the reciprocal relationship of power-sharing arrangements and post-conflict justice involved parties are facilitated in an understanding whether or to what degree power-sharing arrangements can be constructed to vacate space for post-conflict justice measures with the aim of increasing the probability of an enduring peace.
