Eduard Suari-Andreu is an assistant professor at the Department of Economics of Leiden University. He is a microeconomist conducting theoretical and applied research related to household finance, health, labour market, and migration.

Eduard Suari-Andreu obtained his PhD in 2018 at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen. His PhD research focused on household finances and intergenerational transfers in the context of ageing of population and pension system reforms. During his PhD, Eduard was a visiting scholar for six months at the IFS in London.

After finishing his PhD, Eduard was a postdoc at the Department of Economics of Leiden University. Since 2022 he is and assistant professor in that same department.

Since moving to Leiden, Eduard has continued to conduct research on household finance and intergenerational transfers. In addition, he has also expanded the scope of his research now working on topics such as health economics, labour market, and migration.

Besides conducting research, Eduard is involved in the teaching of multiple courses and supervision, both in English and in Dutch. Next to Leiden University, Eduard is also affiliated to the Network on Pensions, Ageing, and Retirement (NETSPAR), the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Center for the Governance of Migration and Diversity (GMDcentre), the Leiden University research program Social Citizenship and Migration, and the University of York's Health Econometrics and Data Group (HEDG).

In 2022, together with other colleagues from Leiden University, Eduard was successful in obtaining a Horizon Europe grant for the TransEuroWorkS project. He is involved in the research conucted in this the project as well as in the coordination of the consortium that forms the project (which includes 9 different European universities and research centres).
