David Sander is a PhD candidate at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
David Sander is a PhD candidate at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. His PhD research concerns companies' rights to a fair trial in criminal proceedings. His PhD supervisors are Jan Crijns and Pinar Ölçer.
David studied Law at Leiden University from mid-2015 to mid-2021. He received his bachelor's degree in mid-2019 and his master's degree in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure in mid-2021 (both cum laude). As a student, he served as an editorial member of Ars Aequi and a board member of various student law associations. He also studied at the University of Texas at Austin for one semester.
David has held his current position since September 2023. Before that, he worked as a student assistant, teaching and research assistant and lecturer at the Department of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
In addition to his PhD research and numerous other activities, David's activities include teaching in the criminal law bachelor's and master's programmes and postgraduate training. He is also the Editorial Secretary at the Dutch-language criminal law magazine Boom Strafblad, a member of 'Court Watchers' (for which he writes edits of ECHR judgments for the Netherlands Law Journal (NJB)) and a writer for legal publication T&C Strafvordering.
