Dan Gao is a PhD candidate at Parenting, Child Care and Development programme group, Leiden University. She earned her master degree at East China Normal University, China in 2019.
Dan Gao’s research interests focus on relations between parenting behaviors and children’s social-emotional development across different cultural contexts. She is currently involved in a research project that focuses on children’s intergroup attitudes and behaviors.
Research
Dan Gao’s research involves children’s social-emotional development. She is particularly interested in how parenting and parent-child interactions promote or hinder children’s social-emotional development. Her research work involves multiple methods including questionnaire, qualitative interview, and observation. She also focuses on the role of parenting and parent-children relationship in children’s social development from a cross-cultural perspective.
