Costanza Franceschini is a postdoctoral researcher at the Leiden Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology. Her research focuses on Chinese development cooperation projects, the geopolitics of infrastructural assemblages, the everyday processes of design and construction, labour relations, and the dynamics of time, hope and future-making associated with infrastructure construction in Africa. Her work is situated within development anthropology, the anthropology of infrastructure, and China-Africa studies.
Costanza Franceschini is a postdoctoral researcher in the projects "Sea-ing Africa: Tracing Legacies and Engaging Future Promises of 'Big' Infrastructure Projects in Port City Regions in Ghana and Morocco” and PortCityFutures at Leiden University.
She was awarded her PhD in cultural and social anthropology by the University of Milano-Bicocca for her thesis titled: “Assembling development. An ethnography of a Chinese infrastructure project in Ghana”. Costanza is member of the Centre for Asian Studies at the University of Ghana and co-founder of the Italian Association for Africa-China Studies (AISAC).
