Christina Pasvanti Gkioka is a Researcher and PhD candidate at eLaw – Center for Law and Digital Technologies, Leiden University. Her PhD research focuses on the intersection of law, digital technologies, and children’s rights, with a specific emphasis on protecting children from online sexual abuse and exploitation in avatar-mediated experiences within digital three-dimensional (3D) environments. Christina also serves as a Program Assistant for the Advanced Master’s in Law and Digital Technologies at the University.

Christina Pasvanti Gkioka is a Researcher and PhD candidate at eLaw – Center for Law and Digital Technologies, Leiden University. Her PhD research focuses on the intersection of law, digital technologies, and children’s rights, with a specific emphasis on protecting children from online sexual abuse and exploitation in avatar-mediated experiences within digital three-dimensional (3D) environments. Christina also serves as a Program Assistant for the Advanced Master’s in Law and Digital Technologies at the University.

Prior to beginning her PhD, Christina completed the Advanced Master’s in Law and Digital Technologies (2023-24) at Leiden University, graduating Cum Laude. Her master’s thesis, "Exploring Gender Equality in the Metaverse," investigated how gender equality can be safeguarded in virtual environments, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for creating inclusive and equitable digital spaces. She also participated in the Pre-PhD Program, where she engaged with courses on the Philosophy of Science and Qualitative Empirical Research Methods in Law.

Christina is an EU-qualified lawyer with five years of professional experience in Greece. Her expertise spans Civil Law and Data Protection. She also holds a master’s degree in Civil Law, Civil Procedure, and Labor Law from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In her professional career, she worked as an associate lawyer in law firms and as a business analyst in the Risk Advisory Division at Deloitte, specializing in Cyber Risk and Data Protection.
