Profiling area
Cathalijne van der Plas is Professor of Private International Law at Leiden University. After completing her dissertation on the limits of the judicial function and Private International Law at Radboud University in 2005, she entered the legal profession. Following a number of years working as a full-time lawyer, she started combining her practice with teaching at the University of Amsterdam in 2007. Since 2020, she has been a Partner at law firm JahaeRaymakers. There, she handles international cases relating to private international law.
Cathalijne van der Plas is also a member of The Netherlands Standing Government Committee on Private International Law (KNIVR), on the Editorial Board of the journal Nederlands Internationaal Privaatrecht (NIPR), and annotator for the case note journal Nederlandse Jurisprudentie (NJ). She is also Co-Chair of the Asset Tracing & Recovery Chamber of the Institute for Financial Crime.
