Brenda Assendelft is a Lecturer at the Centre for Linguistics. She teaches courses in the BA Dutch Language and Culture and the MA Dutch Linguistics on historical linguistics and sociolinguistics.

Research
My PhD research was part of the NWO-funded project 'Pardon my French? Dutch-French Language Contact in The Netherlands, 1500-1900'. In my dissertation, called 'Verfransing onder de loep. Nederlands-Frans taalcontact (1500-1900) vanuit historisch-sociolinguïstisch perspectief', I examined changes in Dutch under the influence of French on the lexical, morphological and syntactic level using a diachronic multigenre corpus.
