Aymara started as a PhD candidate at the Industrial Ecology department of CML in October 2024. Her research focuses on assessing the impacts of Circular Economy measures using Life Cycle Assessment.
Professional experience
Aymara obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany. During her Master’s, her main interests were modeling, simulation, and optimization in combination with the quantification of environmental effects through Life Cycle Assessment in industry applications. Her Master’s thesis involved the simulation-based optimization of reverse logistics for a Circular Economy application by including economic and environmental measures in digitalized inventory management. Before starting her PhD studies Aymara worked as a scientific trainee at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. In this role, she modeled and simulated the EU steel market using a Life Cycle Assessment framework to quantify the environmental, social, and economic impacts of Circular Economy policies.
In October 2024, Aymara started a PhD at the Department of Industrial Ecology of CML.
Research topic
Aymara's research focuses on the quantification of the impacts of Circular Economy measures with a combination of different Industrial Ecology tools like Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Costing, and Material Flow Analysis.
