His research is twofold; first, it seeks to offer insight into the role and determinants of noise in the decisions executive professionals make in the public domain. Analyzing noise provides insight into the degree of arbitrariness in executive professionals' decisions and the trade-off between providing more customization on the one hand and increasing the degree of arbitrariness and horizontal inequality on the other.

Second, his research aims to offer insights into the direct and indirect socioeconomic consequences of noise, and thus public policy. This will increase knowledge about evidence-based policies, specifically focused on improving the socioeconomic position of vulnerable people in society.
