Aritri Dutta is an external PhD candidate of literature specializing in postcolonial fiction, with a focused interest in decolonizing epistemologies within literary criticism. Her research explores alternative frameworks for literary knowledge production, aiming to develop a "pedagogical otherwise" that challenges Eurocentric and colonial legacies in theoretical analysis. Her current work centers on the novels of Arundhati Roy, particularly The God of Small Things and The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, and examines how these works critique Western epistemic models while foregrounding Indian-centered philosophies, such as Buddhist notions of interdependence and selfhood.
More information about Aritri Dutta
Her interdisciplinary approach spans ecofeminism, epistemic decolonization, and South Asian philosophies, questioning the dichotomies of mind-body, nature-culture, and self-other that underpin much of Western intellectual history. Through her work, Dutta advocates for an expanded, non-Western framework of literary criticism that emphasizes the relational, experiential, and ethical dimensions of literature, offering an inclusive and critical lens for understanding postcolonial narratives.
