Ariba Adnan graduated from the University of Groningen with a BSc in Chemical Engineering. During her final project, she concentrated on designing high-pressure electrochemical cells for carbon dioxide utilisation. To expand her knowledge of advanced energy storage technologies, Ariba enrolled in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Program called Materials for Energy Conversion and Storage (MESC+). She was awarded a fully funded industrial scholarship for this program. Ariba's master's thesis focused on the Thermal Energy Storage area, and she conducted her research in the Solid-State Chemical Reactions group, focusing on using industrial waste for thermochemical hydrogen production at CIC EnergiGUNE. Currently, Ariba is pursuing her PhD supervised by Prof. Marc Koper in the Catalysis and Surface Chemistry (CASC) group at Leiden University. Her research concentrates on examining the double-layer region of gold single-crystal electrodes with the aim of developing a fundamental understanding of the molecular structure of electrochemical interfaces and the impact of the double layer on electrode reactions.
