Short C.V
Anoek completed a Bachelor's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at Tilburg University, including a minor in animal behaviour and social sciences. Her passion for animal behaviour led her to pursue a Master's in Behavioural Ecology, where she had the opportunity to work on inspiring research projects. One of these focused on prosociality in bonobos and was carried out in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig and Edwin van Leeuwen.
Behaviour and cognition of (non-)human apes
Through this research, she realised she wanted to delve deeper into the behaviour and cognition of (non-)human apes in order to learn more about both our closest relatives and ourselves. She wrote her thesis under the supervision of Mariska Kret, and she was so drawn to the research on emotions within CoPAN that she was eager to become part of the team.
Anoek is deeply fascinated by the similarities and differences between humans and great apes in terms of social cognition and emotions. She would love to pursue a PhD in this field in the future. For now, she is excited to be involved in various projects as a research assistant and to continue expanding her knowledge.
