Anikó Lipták is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Linguistics. She studies syntactic rules in grammar, with special attention to crosslinguistic variation and the interface between syntax and information structure, as well as between syntax and word formation. Currently, her focus is on the structure of sentences that appear in some kind of abbreviated form.

Research
I do research on the syntactic rules in grammar, with special attention to crosslinguistic variation and the interface between syntax and information structure, as well as between syntax and word formation.
Currently, my focus is on sentences that appear in some kind of abbreviated form, the phenomenon called ellipsis. I was involved in the Ellipsis licensing beyond syntax project (NWO), where I defined the factors determining where abbreviation is possible in different languages. Earlier, I had an NWO VIDI project on Focus and ellipsis, where I investigated how information structure interacts with the formation of abbreviated clauses.
