Curriculum vitae
Andrea graduated with a major in History and Archaeology (BA, University of the West Indies, 1999) and Public Archaeology (MA, UCL, 2004). At UCL, her research focused on the Attitudes of the Jamaican public towards its archaeological heritage. Since that time, she has worked extensively in the Caribbean on various initiatives targeting natural and cultural heritage being impacted by climate-induced and other natural hazards with a focus on mitigation and adaptation planning through culture, post-disaster needs and vulnerability assessments, the safeguarding of living heritage in emergencies, and the synergies which exist between the tangible and the intangible in how Caribbean islanders respond to severe environmental change, culminating with her starting her PhD at Leiden. She is also an Associate Fellow at the KITLV/Royal Netherlands Institute of SE Asian and Caribbean Studies through the CaribTRAILS - Caribbean Transdisciplinary Research Archaeology of Indigenous Legacies Spinoza.
