Professional experience

Andrea studied Product Design Engineering at EAFIT University (2010) with emphasis in sustainable design. After her undergraduate program, she was granted the University of Twente Scholarship to study the MSc. Industrial Design Engineering (2013) and followed the master ́s tracks on Architectural Building Components Design and Cradle to Cradle.

Her professional career started at the Organization of American States, leading the first projects of Circular Economy in Colombia, Panama, and Trinidad Tobago (2013-2016). She worked during five years as an associate professor at the Academic Area of Product Design of Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, carrying out research and education activities related to sustainable product design and participating in social and environmental projects with different communities in Colombia. 

Research topic

As a PhD candidate at the CML, Andrea is focusing on Circular alternatives to replace single-use plastic products used in Santa Marta-Colombia and avoid marine pollution by microplastics in the Caribbean Sea.
