Research
Alicia's research combines innovative digital documentation methods within fieldwork and the ethics of our technology use in archaeological heritage. She will be working with the Faculty's Field Research Education Center while conducting her PhD.
She is specialized in 3D visualization for research, education and public outreach. Her past research investigated the use and social impact of 3D documentation within the restitution of culturally sensitive materials.
Curriculum vitae
Alicia Walsh (MA) graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Anthropology and Greek and Roman Studies from the University of Victoria, Canada. Following 3 years as an Archaeological Illustrator in Greece, she joined the Faculty of Archaeology at Leiden University for a Masters in Heritage Management and Digital Archaeology. She graduated Cum Laude in 2020 with a thesis entitled "Digital Reciprocity? Exploring the Potential of 3D Imaging within the Repatriation of First National Cultural Material".
Before beginning her PhD, Alicia worked as a 3D Modeller for the University of Amsterdam's 4D Research Lab (2022-2025), a Research Assistant on the PURE3D project at Maastricht University (2023-2024), and conducted various archaeological work through her own company Recollection Heritage (2021-2025).
