The sub-project “Enhancing Democracy and Citizens’ Trust in Governance: Adopting a Fair Treatment Approach in Indonesia’s Ombudsman Offices” aims to guide the Indonesian National Ombudsman (Ombudsman Republik Indonesia, ORI) in the transition from autonomous to responsive justice and takes the day-to-day challenges ORI is faced with into account. Through cooperation between ORI, the Dutch Ombudsman (NO), the Centre for Conflict Resolution and Mediation (CvC), the Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI) (Leiden University), the Centre for International Cooperation (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) (CIS-VU) and professional Indonesian mediators and researchers, this project brings together practical expertise and academic knowledge: It aims to create a dynamic interactive learning process in which all parties work together to implement a cultural sensitive Fair Treatment Approach that is beneficial to ORI offices, Indonesian citizens and to the government in Indonesia.
