Why is this project important?
Traditional classroom methods often struggle to convey the complex and dynamic nature of cybersecurity crises. These incidents are not only technically challenging but also require critical soft skills like teamwork, decision-making, and time management. As cyber threats continue to evolve, it is crucial that students are equipped with the practical skills necessary to respond effectively.
The escape room concept
The project will create a game where students work together to solve puzzles and navigate through simulated cyber crisis scenarios. These scenarios will replicate real-life conditions, such as dealing with incomplete information and working under time pressure, making the learning experience more engaging and realistic.
Expected outcomes
- Prototype game: A functional escape room-style game that combines physical elements with a digital app, allowing students to practice cyber crisis management in a controlled, educational environment.
- Advancing research: The project will produce research validating the game's effectiveness and exploring its potential for broader educational use.
- Long-term impact: This project is a stepping stone toward creating a comprehensive. educational tool that can be adapted for various crisis management scenarios, contributing to the development of a skilled cybersecurity workforce.
By integrating gamification with cybersecurity education, this project aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The escape room prototype will provide a dynamic and interactive learning environment, ultimately helping to cultivate a more resilient and capable cybersecurity workforce.
