Research project
CT Scanning Skeletal Remains
CT scanning of skeletal remains can tell us about how strong or weak a persons bones were and we can relate that back to diet, activity, and reproductive factors.
- Duration
- 2021 - 2022
- Contact
- Sarah Schrader
In collaboration with Dr E.M. Winter (LUMC) and P. Dibbetts-Schneider (LUMC), Dr Sarah Schrader is researching bone quality through time via CT and DEXA scanning.
With student assistance, bones are brought to the LUMC and placed in the scanners, just as a patient would be. The data from these scans can tell us about how strong or weak a persons bones were and we can relate that back to diet, activity, and reproductive factors. Scanning is ongoing.
