The Life and Death of Frames: Dynamics of Media Frame Duration
Political scientists Rebekah Tromble and Michael Meffert (Leiden University) address the question why certain media frames persist over time while others fade away and still others disappear very quickly. They suggest an approach based in event-history methodologies for assessing the causes of repeated frame deployment over both long and short periods of time. As an illustration, Tromble and Meffert examine the British coverage of the 2006 Danish Muhammad cartoon controversy.
