The Villa of Serenus in Dakhla
After years of hard work, the Roman Villa of Serenus at Amheida in the Dakhla Oasis, of which the reconstruction in mud brick was commissioned to architect Dr Nicholas Warner by the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (New York University), after which it was beautifully decorated by Dorothea Schulz, is as good as ready to be opened (just a few final touches remain on the decorations). Our institute facilitated the decorating work by Dorothea, which were financially made possible by grants from the Netherlands Embassy in Cairo, to whom we are very grateful.
The result is spectacular! If you are ever in the Dakhla Oasis, this is certainly worth a visit. Have a look at the pictures and at the Facebook page.
