Graduate Annual Research Discussions on Egypt and Nubia

We are happy to announce that GARDEN VI will be held February 23rd, 2019 at the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo (DAIK). The conference is jointly organised by the DAIK, the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo and the American University Cairo!

GARDEN is a unique and excellent opportunity for young researchers to speak at an international conference and to make contacts with other young scholars from all over the world.

We would like to reiterate our invitation to all MA and beginning to mid-completion PhD students involved in the study of Egypt and Sudan from the Prehistoric Period through the 15th century AD to participate in GARDEN VI. All that is needed is the submission of an abstract (about 250 words maximum) for a 10-15 min talk to:

All applicants should please keep in mind that GARDEN's main focus is on the methodological approach of the research and not necessarily on the content itself!

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS: December 21st, 2018.

Travelling costs unfortunately cannot be refunded. If help with accomodation is needed, please contact the organisers at garden.conference@gmail.com.

Please keep in mind that time is limited to 10-15 min. for the presentation and 5 min of discussion. Your talk should be drawn up accordingly!

Registration is not needed for audience members, though please bear in mind that seats are limited and once we reach capacity we will have to turn people away at the door. If you let us know in advance, we can reserve a space for you.
