A few words from our Director
Dear friends of the NVIC,
Our first semester (in autumn) of the academic year 2017-18 has been a busy one. For the second time, we organized a whole BA semester (30 study credits) in Middle Eastern Studies for students of our contributing institutions in the Netherlands. Parallel to this, we also organized an MA semester (also 30 study credits) for students of Flanders (and one from Leiden University).γ
Together with the Belgian Embassy, ββthe Embassy of the Netherlands organized a speed-dating event for all our students. During this event, students had the opportunity to interview diplomats about their work abroad. Some of our students could eventually end up in Foreign Affairs.γ
We are looking forward to our second semester to start in January or 2018: again, we will teach another BA semester in Middle Eastern Studies, a BA semester for students of Arabic and Islam and a half semester "Egyptology in the Field" for our students of Leuven and Leiden. In total, we hope to serve more than 50 students during this coming spring semester.
In January, from the 8th until the 16th, we are also looking forward to teaching another course in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) at our institute (please click here for more information). In addition to private lessons to individuals during the spring of next year, we will also teach two evening courses (on two levels) in Egyptian colloquial Arabic (for details, please look here). Another round of Dutch language courses will also start on the 15th of January (for registration, click here).
