The A.G. Leventis Foundation supports Leiden ancient historians

Rafał Matuszewski and Kim Beerden, both university lecturers in Ancient History, received a grant from The A.G. Leventis Foundation.

The grant will allow them to set up the Leiden Center for the Study of Ancient Religion (L*CeSAR) — a network that aims at bringing together and facilitating academic exchanges between researchers working on ancient religions. In the short term, the network will organize workshops with intellectual, educational, as well as networking purposes, and establish a prize for the best BA or (Res)MA thesis on the topic of ancient religions. In the longer term, L*CeSAR is meant to become a nexus for interdisciplinary collaboration, uniting scholars from within Leiden University and providing a platform for scholarly dialogue and knowledge dissemination.
