The International Institute of Air and Space Law joins the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation

The International Institute of Air and Space Law (IIASL) at Leiden University has joined the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) as its newest Research and Academia member.

This partnership marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between academia and the air traffic management (ATM) sector, enabling shared advancements in research, education and innovation for the aviation industry.

Through its membership, the IIASL will engage with other CANSO members on a wide range of research initiatives, collaborative projects and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

'Their expertise and dedication to advancing research and education in aviation align perfectly with CANSO's goals. We look forward to seeing the positive impact that the IIASL will bring to our industry through fresh insights and innovative research, and the next generation of aviation professionals studying Leiden's award-winning Advanced Masters programme in Air and Space Law.'

Professor Steven Truxal, Director of the IIASL, commented: 'Joining CANSO offers a fantastic opportunity for the IIASL at Leiden University to deepen its engagement with the aviation sector. As a CANSO Research and Academia member, the IIASL gains access to the Future Skies Academic Research (FUSAR) Network, a platform designed to facilitate independent research, training and collaboration within the ATM industry, allowing Leiden to contribute to CANSO's mission to shape the future of airspace management by participating in research projects, sharing insights and fostering innovation.
