Successful ‘landmark decisions’ panel discussion at ISLSSL World Congress in Rome
Yvonne Erkens and Fieke Weber, both from the Department of Labour Law and Social Security, recently organised a panel discussion on behalf of the International Labor Rights Case Law Journal (ILaRC). The discussion took place during the ISLSSL World Congress in Rome and was a huge success.
Entitled ‘Landmark decisions on fundamental labour standards: a decade of impact’, the panel discussion was organised to mark the tenth anniversary of the IlaRC. International experts came together to discuss landmark rulings on fundamental labour standards.
Five distinguished speakers shared their perspectives on a variety of topics, including:
- The exclusion of vulnerable workers from statutory compensation schemes (Nicola Smit, Stellenbosch University)
- Inter-American Court tackles structural forced labour (Anne Trebilcock, University of Göttingen)
- The Supremacy of the Right to Collective Bargaining in Italy (Giulia Frosecchi, University of Florence)
- Working conditions and safety in a digitised working environment (Stefania Marassi, The Hague University of Applied Sciences)
- The landmark ruling in the Lagos del Campo case at the Inter-American Court (Miguel F. Canessa Montejo, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru)
The panel discussion attracted a high level of interest and was very well received by attendees. The speakers made valuable contributions to the global debate on labour rights.
