Christopher Green has won the Teaching Prize 2024. The assistant professor of Korea Studies was presented with the prize during the opening of the faculty year in the Hortus.
This year, besides Green, assistant professor Johan de Jong was also nominated. The Education Committee, which awards the prize every year, stressed that it was thus faced with a difficult choice. With many other teachers, the nominees provide an environment where students develop a hunger for knowledge and critical thinking skills.
‘Unique dynamics’
De Jong was characterised by a smooth blend of ‘eloquence and a keen sense of humour’, while Green managed to give his students ‘insight into the stories behind the headlines’ in his lectures, using a unique dynamic that encourages students to actively participate.
