Launch of the Europe Hub master's thesis prize
Leiden University’s Europe Hub invites submissions from all faculties for its first annual Europe Hub master's thesis prize by 2 September 2024.
The winning thesis should touch on at least one of the Hub's thematic priorities and ideally consider these from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The winner will receive a certificate on having won the prize, as well as €250 in prize money. Those placed second and third will also receive certificates to indicate their runner-up status.
The Europe Hub is an interfaculty platform showcasing the university’s research, teaching expertise and capacity to tackle Europe's challenges both at home and abroad.
Eligibility
- A master's thesis submitted for evaluation at any of Leiden University's faculties within the 12 months preceding the submission deadline of 2 September 2024.
- The thesis must touch on at least one of the Hub's thematic priorities, which are: (1) Europe in the world; (2) Markets, trade, and digitalisation; (3) Energy, environment and health; and (4) The foundations of European integration. For a detailed summary of each thematic priority, please refer to the Hub’s mission statement.
- The thesis must have been awarded a mark of at least 8.5.
- In the evaluation procedure, theses with an interdisciplinary perspective take precedence.
Submission
- Submissions must be sent to europehub@leidenuniv.nl by the thesis author or their thesis supervisor by 2 September 2024.
- Submissions must include the following:
- a PDF file containing the actual thesis;
- a recommendation letter from the supervisor summarising the strengths of the thesis;
- a motivation letter from the student summarising, in particular, the interdisciplinary aspects of the thesis and the thesis' relevance to the Europe Hub's thematic priorities as specified in its mission statement.
