Successful third edition of Leiden University Academy Week
It was Leiden University Academy Week from 11 to 15 March. With over 300 sign-ups and a programme with 14 different webinars and workshops on our courses for professions, this edition was once again a resounding success.
Leiden University offers a wide range of education for professionals, from short courses to full master’s programmes. During this edition of Leiden University Academy Week, professionals could learn about the opportunities to boost their careers, acquire new skills or increase their knowledge.
Introduction to the wide range of education for professionals
This was the third edition co-hosted by all providers of training for professionals at Leiden University. As with the previous edition, the Dual PhD centre gave a popular webinar on the options of doing a PhD alongside your work. A large group of professionals learned more about the Master’s programmes in Cyber Security and Population Health Management, and the Knowledge Centre for Pyschology and Economic Behaviour gave a webinar on their courses on workplace psychology..
The programme also featured new webinars that proved a valuable addition to Leiden University Academy Week. The Graduate School of Teaching (ICLON) gave a webinar for professionals interested in becoming a secondary school teacher and the Academic Language Centre gave an introduction to its Business English and Dutch Sign Language courses. Another new webinar focused on business sustainability and theassociated legal issues relating environmental and human rights. This was given by the Leiden Law Academy, as was the webinar on Artificial Intelligence, Law and Ethics. For the first time, the LUMC gave a webinar on the part-time Master’s programme in Health, Ageing and Society, specially developed for professionals who want to play an important role in updating our healthcare system.
Alongside these online webinars, two in-person workshops were given in The Hague by the Centre for Professional Learning. Both the lecture on sovereigns and the workshop on ‘inclusive leadership for depolarisation’ filled up in no time and were well received by the audience.
Interaction between academia and the field
Plenty of knowledge and inspiration was shared in these interactive webinars and workshops. Not only could professionals learn about Leiden University’s wide range of training but researchers and lecturers had the opportunity to get to know the target audience. The webinars and workshops were therefore an opportunity for interaction between the researchers and professionals from the field.
