'The Love for International Organizations'
A conference organized by Niels Blokker, professor of International Institutional Law and Ramses Wessel (RUG) to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the International Organizations Law Review.
The conference was held at the University of Vienna on 17 November and was organized in close cooperation with prof. August Reinisch. Over the past two decades, IOLR has published articles on many aspects of the law of international organizations, written not only by academics but also by practitioners. Since the beginning, Niels Blokker and Ramses Wessel IOLR have been the co-editors-in-chief of this journal. Students from Leiden University have always been strongly involved in the editing process.
The theme of the Vienna Conference was inspired by an article prepared by Jean d’Aspremont, entitled ‘The Love for International Organizations’. At the conference members of the journal’s Editorial Board commented on this article and/or explained why they love (or sometimes hate) international organizations. The contributions to the conference will be published in a special issue of IOLR, to be published in 2024. Close to 100 academics and practitioners from all over the world participated in the conference and many gave comments during the lively debates.
