Special issue on 'The European Union and the Governance of Contested Global Spaces'
Together with College of Europe Professors Sieglinde Gstöhl and Simon Schunz, Joris Larik edited an interdisciplinary special issue for the Journal of European Integration on the theme 'The European Union and the Governance of Contested Global Spaces in an Era of Geopolitics'.
The special issue combines international relations, EU and international law, and political geography to analyse the EU's interests, strategies, and challenges in the five 'global spaces' – oceans, atmosphere, polar regions, outer space, and cyberspace.
The special issue consists of an introductory framing article, a legally focused cross-cutting article authored by Dr Larik (available open access), five articles, each of which is dedicated to a particular global space, and a concluding cross-cutting article focused on role theory in the governance of global spaces.
