The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations has asked several universities to conduct research within the context of this bill. Leiden University conducted two of the studies.
The first study was conducted by Anne Meuwese (Leiden University) and Robert Goené and is titled ‘Proactief Maatwerk’ (proactive customisation). The report contains an inventory of bottlenecks and directions for solutions in proactively identifying custom cases.
The second study was conducted by Femke Binnendijk, Olaf van Loon and Ymre Schuurmans, with the assistance of Zeinab Bazzi (all from Leiden University). Their research provides an overview of the proposed amendments to the Awb that have appeared in the literature over the past five years. The study comprises a report in which the common thread from the overview is contrasted with the current bill and an appendix with an overview of the amendment proposals, clustered by topic.
On 3 October 2023, the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations sent the reports to the House of Representatives. The reports (in Dutch) can be accessed via this link.
