Peter Rodrigues appointed deputy member at Netherlands Institute for Human Rights
Peter Rodrigues, Professor of Immigration Law, has been appointed as a deputy member of the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights for a period of eighteen months.
In this position, Rodrigues will be involved in reviewing cases concerning discrimination complaints filed on the basis of Dutch equal treatment laws. Rodrigues was previously a member of the Equal Treatment Commission, the Institute’s legal predecessor.
Deputy members have extensive knowledge of equal treatment legislation and wide experience on topics that are considered regularly. Because of their diverse backgrounds and community involvement, these members bring new insights that enhance the work of the Institute.
This appointment ensures that the Institute will have sufficient members to conduct hearings and give decisions on complaints this year and next year. In addition, the deputy members can induct new permanent members so that they, too, can assume the role of presiding adjudicators.
